Condense rest

1. How do I configure the settings so that a rest appears in the section highlighted in green?

  1. I want to add a fermata to the orange section, but if I do, it will end up above the lyrics. Do I need to move it manually?
  1. An inexpensive compromise (which shows also the crotchet rest in bar 3) is to delete the condensing change and Hide rests and label active player in Notation Options > Condensing > Inactive Players

  2. Place the fermata on the rest in the oboe staves and move it in the soprano staff in Engrave Mode

If I use the first method, a quarter rest appears. Only a sixteenth rest should be shown.

You can set the quarter rest to transparent:

Apparently it doesn’t affect the part, even if local properties are set to Globally:

The green section should be notated as one voice with chords, rather than split into two voices.

Really?! It’s not commun at all, it would mean that the first 8th is displayed as two voices (oboe 1’s note, oboe 2’s rest), and from the second note onwards in one voice. You would anyway loose the beaming. It will require a workaround.

If I add the “condense” feature to a portion of the data, two “rest” entries appear, but the top one doesn’t move.

And if you turn the top one to transparent?

The top one doesn’t let me select a color. I can’t adjust the position either.

I see…

Here a workaround with a playing technique that you will have to apply to both oboes to take advantage of the amalgamation. And you’ll have to hide them (Locally) in the oboes parts.

Thank you very much for your kind response.
