Condensing issue - Clarinets

Hi,

I cannot get the clarinets in A in this file to condense, even with a manual override.

This is s cut down example, and the only flow where the players use A clarinets (Bb for the other flows). If I delete the Bb clarinet for the first player, it condenses automatically.
I stumbled across a couple of posts from 2020 with the same issues with clarinets, but surely this has been fixed in 6 years, right?

Since the clarinets hold two instruments, you must enable instrument changes in condensed staves…

Hi.

If you want to benefit from the new features, you need to enable them!

That did the trick, thank you!

Probably should have tested that function, but I read it as “during a flow”, not between flows, as is the case here.

Also, a manual override still doesn’t work with that function off, which is kinda backwards in my head.

Another thing to maybe look at is the naming of the Clarinets.
When I double-clicked on the purple SYS. BRK + STAFF VIS. signpost, I noticed that the one of them has the token for B flat in its name and the other has a lower case B.

Good catch! The project wasn’t set up by me, so I can’t answer to why this occured, but this didn’t make a difference to the issue at least.

Very important concept in Dorico :

Options limited to flows are Notation options.

Options limited to Layouts are Layout options.

Global options are Engraving options.

This should be learned from the start, it speeds up everyone’s workflow
