Hello! How do you conform the grid / tempo to a song when a band didn’t record to a click? There is something called “Identify Beat” in Pro Tools that I always used for conforming the Grid to the performance. I assume this can be done in Cubase. Are there any tutorials on how to do this, also WITHOUT warping the audio?
Project → Tempo Detection.
That will create a tempo map aka adjust the grid to the audio.
It is worth taking a look at the manual for this function. There are probably also some videos available on YouTube.
Got ya! Which audio does it analyze if it’s a full multitrack session?
Also, is there a way to just draw it in/click and drag nodes to the audio without it time stretching everything?
Most of the videos I see analyzing and creating a tempo track is done on just a mix down, but I’d like to know how to do it with a full multitrack session where the audio is untouched.
The tempo detection uses the selected event. I have not tried if it works when multiple event are selected.
The grid can be manually adjusted by using the mouse tool “Time Warp”.
Got ya! Does the time warp affect the audio as well? Or Just the grid?
The Warp Grid options are for moving the grid. Free Warp keep the grid as it is and adjust the audio to it. So use the upper tool.
Awesome! I’m gonna check this out! Thank you!
