Connecting Roland Juno DS keyboard to Cubasec14

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me to connect my keyboard to cubase via a steinberg UR22mkII. I have used the 5 pin lead into the DAW and have added the Roland driver ( i think). I have also set up in Studio but still not working. Im unsure whether i should ve using as a midi or an instrument. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Rob

Hi,

If the hardware has USB and its own driver, don’t use 5-Din MIDI cables. Use the USB option instead.

Thanks Martin, should that connect into the DAW or directly into the lap top?

Not sure what you mean with “connect into the DAW”, because that is just software, without a plug. In case you mean the UR22 mkII, that is an Audio Interface.

You connect the keyboard using a USB cable to your laptop and that will be seen by Cubase.

Thanks Martin, i appreciate your advice, ill try that but to be honest, i think i might move away from steinberg and cubase in general as its so hit and miss whether it works or not!! Basic guitar and voice records one day and then not the next with the same settings so im beyond frustration with the software!
Thanks once again!

Just for your situational awareness, once you get things set up it should be very reliable after that, no hit and miss.

I have a Juno DS 88 going into a Steinberg interface also (UR28M), and everything turns on very reliably.

One thing I didn’t catch on to when I got started … the Juno and the interface have to be turned on before Cubase.
