The continuous MIDI Activity is because your Yamaha keyboard sends both MIDI Clock, “F8” (it has a sequencer, arpeggiators, and tempo driven effects that rely on this Clock) and it also sends something called Active Sensing, “FE”. This is what happens when I connect the ‘Yamaha Montage’ synth.

Cubase/ I hid this
Right click on the Transport (exactly where the Midi Activity indicator is shown)
Uncheck the “MIDI ACTIVITY” option.
