No problem setting up my new UAD Apollo X6 gen 2 in Cubase Control Room and adding a Headphones Mix there.
Now
in the speaker mix I hear both input (mics, external instruments, VSTis) and activated metronome click while recording
but in the headphones mix I only hear input, but no click. I even see the click moving in the Control Room headphones metering, but the click is silent there.
How can I get the click audible for the Heaphones mix?
Beside this, and if it still doesn’t work, could you post a screenshot of your Studio > Audio connections > Outputs panel ? When working with the control room, it’s better to set all what could be in it to Not connected.
Output should not even have to be connected, because I route output to control room. But it makes no difference for my problem if I activate Output for Apollo Thunderbolt (then going to another line Out) or have it disabled.
Perhaps something is not configured right with my new Apollo interface and UAD console settings. I already checked tutorials. Perhaps I will have to contact UAD support.
Just had a chat with UAD support, and uploaded my Apollo console settings. They will contact me by email to guide me to the right setup, but already told me, that my Headphone connection was wrong. Imagine, in Apollos, you don’t have a simple Headpones out 1 and 2, but have to set up your own Headpone Cue Mix manually, to be able to use Heaphone outs properly. I know that cue mixes are very useful and flexible tools, but it is completely bizarre from my view, that there are no properly configured headphone outs ready to go for DAW use, in something as advanced as UAD console.
Got the solution from UAD support and from a nice forum user.
After creating the Headphones Output in Cubase audio connections for Control Room, it has to be set to Cue 1 or 2 left and right. Then in UAD console you have to uncheck the “Mix” button, after clicking Cue 1 or 2 on right side of the console (where the Aux and Talkback channels are). In the same popup menu you see to which Cue Headphones 1 and 2 are routed.
Whatsoever, now it works. It’s a somewhat bizarre way of setting up a simple headphones connection for the Cubase control room from my view, but whatsoever…
