CONTROL ROOM: Main Inserts not being saved

I thought I was dreaming. I setup control plugs the other day…everything updated nice and neat
THEN
I opened it up yesteday and they were all back to previous version. I thought maybe I opened the wrong file so I took careful note and save it etc
BUT
When I open it up, the same thing happened they are all back to the old version…what is going on? Seems to have no way of saving preset.
I tried saving a profile and reopening that…same thing

I AM NOT DELETING MY _64 Preference folder 1 more time…im done with it. I never had any of these issues on 11. I have reset and wasted so much time trying to fix this crap

I JUST WANT TO MAKE MUSIC AND GET PAID.

rant finished

Hi,

Control Room is not project-based, it’s a global settings. It’s the same for all projects.

If it has not been stored, I would guess, Cubase didn’t quit properly. Maybe there was a silent crash while quit? So Cubase didn’t store the new settings to the preferences folder.

Thanks @Martin.Jirsak
Good to know…I check the log previously and there didnt seem to be a crash out. What file does hold those settings then?

Hi,

The most complete list about the preferences I know, is this one.

Ah! Finally…thank you
I might get that tatooed somewhere

EDIT: Except its back to front…the file should be LHS and the data streams thereof in the RHS

  • Also I couldnt see a mention of the control room setting for IO but its actually in ports (thought it was midi only)
  • Actual audio driver? Unless I read too quickkly
  • Shortcuts? Sure you can go looking but either its a resource for ALL or not at all…half baking makes bad cakes right?

Has this been fixed yet? Showstopper

Thanks again @Martin.Jirsak however it makes not mention of any control room stuff so Im not up for guessing where the issue is unfortuantely. Ive spent hours today, probably half the day to get a process to repair the machine when the corruption begins…all of this just shouldnt be this hard. At least corrupted audio is solved now…but I would like an update as its been close to 6 months

Hi all, random disappearing Control Room plugs been an ongoing issue a few years, at least for me. Was fixed for awhile at beginning of C13 but has been getting real bad as of late, (hence me scouring the forums).

I’m on a Windows system and have heavy suspicions on Sonarworks Sound ID and Windows updates. Pretty sure it Sound ID this time; just updated and CR plugs disappear every instance opening.

Solution for me has always been:

  1. Back up the desired “ControlRoomPresets.pxml” file and replace in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 13_64\Presets

and when that doesnt work:
2) take screenshots of control room plugs and repopulate manually

more time wasted believe me I know. These “little” issues seem to be killing Steinberg and continue to wish this would be resolved.

Cheers all

Thanks @enharmonika

Its not a simple matter of plugins…all the routing etc…WHY???

I tried deleting the plugs etc but when I reopen, its all back.
Deleted control room xml but still there???
Replaced xml from a fresh set of prefs…still no go. Just dont have time for this

EDIT: Seems it writes out the file on close…finally got rid of it but have to again rebuild the settings. not ok

Interestingly of course, all my routings are gone…pain

And there is this gigantic list of presets where there should only be 2

STEINBERG: why cant any preset in the system be saved out into the preset folder so that it can be interchanged?

At least, if the bug can’t be fixed, Steinberg should provide an easy way to save the Control Room configuration as a preset, like for Key Commands

Same issue with a similar configuration including Sonarworks SoundId :frowning:

Absolutely, had problems with Soundworks myself, (win 11 platform) in the past but that was Soundworks. Tho using Harman curves now so elimated that “potential”.

My control room plugs picking up frequency of disappearing again,(Microsoft updates still suspect), Frustrating! Only solution thus far is still saved “screenshots” of set up tho, been doing it so much have memorized! Really wish Steinberg would address
