The time signature is 13/8. Following a 1/16th note, i need to input an 1/8th note. Selecting 1/8th note input, i get two 16ths tied ? Removing the tie, i still have two 16ths. How do i convert to one eighth note?
Tried different methods while reading post but still no luck. Unless there is a global setting in the Notations Options that would make sense to enable.

If your rhythmic subdivisions are consistent throughout the piece, you can change the way that Dorico beams things. By default, 13/8 is beamed as 4+3+3+3/8. You’re getting two tied sixteenths because the eighth note duration you want spans two beam groups. So if you want your beaming to be (for example), 4+4+2+3, you can just set that as your time signature (i.e., [4+4+2+3]/8
, either for the whole flow or for certain measures. If your beam grouping changes throughout the piece, you can place different time sigs where you need them and then hide them (in Properties) so you don’t have redundant 13/8 in your score. (You can also hide a time sig on input by surrounding it in parens, so ([4+4+2+3]/8)
But if what you want is just an eighth note right there, then the quickest thing is to use Force Duration. When you get to that spot in the staff, hit O and then enter your eighth note. Hit O again to turn off Force Duration.

Thank you.
I read that piece in manual on that subject. Didn’t see about the time signature. I’ll go back for that. Very versatile feature !!
Wow that worked out great

hello. Was wondering in your example if you have a source (eg, website, document) explaining aggregate time signatures ?
I have never used that type other than 17/8 or 3/4+7/8. So not understanding how you came up with your alternative and how do you know the default 4+3+3+3.
Thank you for your time and patience
The manual has a section with examples of what you can enter into the time signature popover.
I’m not sure if that’s specified somewhere. I just set up a time signature of 13/8 and started entering eighth notes, and I could see the way that Dorico beamed them.
