Some of you have probably migrated from Sonar to Cubase, as I did. Electronic instrument manufacturers used to provide instrument definition files (.ins) to allow users to easily access sounds from modules and synthesizers.
I have a Roland Integra-7 that was very easy to access with Sonar. However, since I migrated to Cubase a couple of years ago, I haven’t been able to use the module as before. First of all, Cubase only accepts XML files for instrument definitions, and to this day, Roland only provides a .ins.
Cubase support tells me that it should be easy to convert a .ins file into a .XML file using tools such as Altova MapForce. However, I haven’t found a .xlm example to determine what structure Cubase expects, so all my trials have failed.
Is there anyone out there with some experience in the matter who can shed some light on it?
Thanks in advance.
