I’m trying to copy-paste a big portion of lyrics from one chorus to another. And from one vocal track to another. The first thing - I couldn’t circle a whole line with mouse - no selection is made - the text stays black. So I tried to select it with CNTRL-click word by word. After selecting I tried to copy-paste to another lyrics block but nothing was copied. So for now I have to reenter the same text manually many times as I need to have this lyrics in each back vocal in each chorus. 12 times!!! Is there a fast way to do it?
Hi Dmitry, this should just work. Marquee select needs the entire text to be included in the rectangle you’re making with the mouse.
Pasting works at the location of the project cursor (select a note, press “L”), on the track that is marked as active (which can be done in the track list on the left in the Score Editor). Alternatively, you can paste the lyrics within the Key Editor.

Thanks, now I see. But the rectangle has to be slightly bigger, then the letters. That’s against the other cubase logic - in the other parts of the software we are used that elements just need to be touched with this rectangle.
Yes, thanks, it works. But I don’t like the idea of putting the locator to specific place for the lyrics to be pasted. Especially without an option to locate with a simple click. In my case I have “L” shortcut reassigned to another function as I never locate in this way. It would be a lot more logical to paste with a right click on the target note.
Shared midi parts are extremely useful for this, esp with the new Score Editor. If I have a repeated section like a chorus I copy using Option+Drag to create a copy then press Shift before you let go. Lyrics and notes are automatically copied and updated in all instances of the part.
There’s another problem I just realized. As the lyrics now are not linked to notes - if we change the rhythm after entering lyrics we find that the lyrics are displaced, so we have to adjust their position as well. More problems you get if you have two or more parts with the same lyrics but rhythmically different. Trying to copy lyrics between these parts gives you a weird result with displaced lyrics. So it becomes easier to enter lyrics once again as moving anything in this editor is pain, at least for now.
Yes, it has been discussed on here before - there is no affinity between the lyrics and notes. I’m constantly re-entering lyrics when changing rhythm.
It’s because the lyrics are currently independent midi events - you can see that if you open the Midi List Editor. This is actually good for other reasons, e.g. it means I can export the midi with lyrics to other apps so I hope it doesn’t change, but some memory of lyric placement against notes would be great.
One thing that can speed this up is re-aligning the lyrics in the List Editor rather than re-entering. You can click and drag them, example here:

Note that if you are someone that enters lyrics at the end before printing/exporting you will never see this, but many of us want to enter lyrics early in the process, in particular so we can copy them around to repeated sections.
