Copying multi-staff ideas between divisi and single intruments in score

Dear friends,

how do you go about copying multi staff sections between different instruments in the score if there are divisi scetions involved? I understand that Dorico copies on an instrument basis rather than a staff basis, but it feels very counter-intuitive that things are just left out when copying.

Say you have a four-part choral theme in a four-part divisi cello section and want to copy paste to flute 1, 2 and oboe 1, 2? Then Dorico will only copy the top voice to Fl 1 and forget about the rest.

Or the other way around. The source is in four trombones and you want to copy to four cellos: It will then copy trb1 to Cello 1, trb2 to Bassi and omit the rest.

I realise there is an intention behind this, but since we probably all copy a lot around the score, what’s the best way to do this?

All best,
Søren

One way would be to copy all your divisi parts and then use paste special>explode onto your target instruments.

Heureka! Thank you. This even works both ways.

And it also works for something I missed a bit from Sibelius: Pasting to a maybe non-logical particular selection of staves by just highlighting them. Brilliant! I’ll set CMD-ALT-SHIFT+V to “Explode”.
