Cpu i9 13900 Drop outs

If you haven’t please try disabling Hyperthreading AND changing the system performance from “ background services ” to “ programs ”. I got around 10% difference on vst performance meter.

I’ve tried again in the past disabling the HT option alone but there was no difference, so I suggest you give it a try and hopefully it will help.

On Windows 10:
Settings->System->About->Advanced system settings->advanced->performance settings->advanced->programs

Also can you check the task manager when the dropouts occur to see if there is a random app, program or service overloading the system? If so you can disable it when working with cubase if possible

Been through the same problems with a new AMD PC. The posters above are correct, you need to go through a LOT of trial and error to get your system running properly. It is ridiculous that you need to do this - buying a top of the range PC should mean Cubase works flawlessly, but it don’t.

The Nvidia drivers thing is a definite starting point. Leave the extra software out of it - get all of the Nvidia stuff uninstalled then download the driver-only option from their website and be sure to change the setting on the Nvidia Control Panel to ‘prefer maximum performance’ as per the post above. Then, once that is out of the way start to eliminate the other issues. Good luck!

Deactivate the CPU C-States in the UEFI BIOS.

Deactivating C-States on 13th gen will disable Turbo Boost 3.0 Technology. He will loose part of performance and functionality of his 13900 cpu. And disabling C-States will increase a lot power consumption in idle as cpu voltage will always squashing full voltage even if there is no task or need for that.
Instead I can recommend limiting package C-States to C0/C1 if there is such option in his BIOS.
In my opinion this is such a waste of money and performance if people start to disable vital CPU functions such as Hyper Threading, C-states, E-cores, SpeedShift, SpeedStep etc… This only means that software/OS level is not properly optimized for such hardware.

Disabling Core Parking helped me the most.

There is an update on support topic for 12th/13th gen CPUs and Cubase based on 2023-08-28:

Update 2023-08-28: Recent tests indicated that the situation has improved significantly and feedback from the user base supports the results. While we are still working on optimized versions of Cubase and Nuendo, the behavior running on the latest Cubase/Nuendo 12 and Windows 11 builds is mostly as expected.

This mirrors my experience. It was pretty terrible when the 12th generation Intel CPUs first came out, but keeping up with Windows 11 updates, driver updates, BIOS updates, Cubase updates etc. made the situation better and better, and now things are running great on my system!

I had similar issues for months and months on my recent build i7 12700K/64G/6TB SSD machine, trying everything mentioned in the various threads to resolve it: see e.g. post in DPC Latency problems

However as Timo00 says, over the past couple of months the recent Intel/Microsoft updates seem to have resolved almost all thread director issues, so I have disabled all the fixes I applied before and got better performance. It is IMPERATIVE to apply all updates IMH (and professional!) Opinion.

BUT! I have just installed a new 12GB graphics card (AMD 6700XT) to replace the inbuilt 12700K graphics because (1) I was having endless issues with Intel ARC and Sonarworks mutually crashing and (2) I wanted more video RAM to support 4 large monitors (and to play some games, cough). To my great surprise my audio performance in Cubase has improved notably since, I can drop to very much lower buffer sizes than with the built in video in use, for in-time overdubs with no audio problems and running 70 + tracks including a lot of VIs. This is not what I expected to happen at all. Is the onboard Intel GPU stealing too many bus cycles? I would have thought that impossible. What could it be?

Whatever, adding the AMD card has in MY case had a major effect. This may not work for others, I am just reporting my experience. I deliberately did not buy an nVidia card on this occasion due to the reported issues… Also, none of the new nVidia and AMD mid range releases are very tempting, hence the previous model at a keen price while there is stock…

Sorry for the delay! to much work !

here it is all i have done to fix my problems

First update bios firmware!

Then the suppport after analysing my machine send me this instructions:

  • it is necessary to perform a clean installation of the main RTX 4060 Laptop GPU Driver without the extended audio/gaming and physics/rendering optimizations :
  • Close all programs.
  • Download the latest drivers for your graphics card on the Dell’s website or NVidia’s website directly.
  • Run the downloaded installer and follow the instructions to start the installation.
  • Under ‘Options’, choose ‘Custom (Advanced)’ and click on ‘Next’.
  • Once the installation options appear, disable all additional driver components.
  • Important Enable the option ‘Perform a clean installation’.
  • Wait for the installation to complete and restart your system.

You should also try some troubleshooting on your Operating System

Open Control Panel (switch to ‘View by: Large Icons’, if set to ‘Category’)
Open Power Options
Select High Performance (click on ‘Show additional plans’, if you can’t see it)
Click on ‘Change plan setting’
In the new panel (Edit Plan Settings), click on 'Change advanced power settings
Search for Hard Disk, expand the section and set ‘Turn off hard disk after’ to ‘Never’ (you can also type it in)
Search for USB settings, expand the section and set USB selective suspend setting to ‘Disabled’
Click on ‘OK’ and close the panel

Try a ‘clean boot’ without all the additional services and auto-start programs to troubleshoot issues. This is described here.

You should also try to repair Visual C++ Runtimes:
Press the Windows Key + R, enter appwiz.cpl and then press Enter.
Locate Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (2015-2022) (x64) (x86) Packages in the list of installed applications.
Select this entry and then click Uninstall/Repair and it will show options to Repair, Uninstall or Cancel.
Click on Repair and allow the process to complete. You’ll be asked to restart your PC"

You ought to try the SFC /SCANNOW to:
Open Start.

  1. Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.
  2. Type the following command and press Enter: SFC /SCANNOW

Press the Windows key, type CMD, right-click on ‘Command Prompt’, Run as administrator, then type sfc-scannow , hit Enter and wait for the outcome (if you get an error output, please copy the text)

  • at last disable core parking

So to resume i have hypertrading disable, and all cores ( e/P) working.

after all that im working with buffer at 64 having delay off 2ms and working on big projects with lots off vst and plugins with no problem at all
I hope this can work to other people!
