Crash on re-opening a working project

Hi everyone.
Having a problem here opening an in-progress project. It was working fine yesterday. I saved everything and rebooted the machine (I tend to do that on the weekend.) Today, I can’t open the project without disabling 3rd party plugins. When opening, I see in the Loading MixConsole window that is sort of pauses when loading one particular channel which has an Opus instrument loaded (I don’t see any text showing other channels loading, by the way.) Then I see “updating MixConsole routing” and Cubase crashes. No crash report/log screen from macOS.

Disabling 3rd party does work, but then…I have no instruments. Is this problem familiar to anyone? Is there any way to identify which plugin may be causing this, like a logfile?

UPDATE: I opened the project with 3rd party plugins deactivated, then deactivated that specific channel and saved a new instance of the project. Closed and restarted Cubase normally, opened the project and it works. I then re-enabled that channel, expecting a crash, and it hasn’t crashed. Froze the channel, saved, restarted, and the project opens. What gives??

Hi,

That means, the crash was in one of the included plug-in.

Yes I suppose it must be. Does Cubase generate any log files which could help determining which plugin it was? Strange that it happened in the original project instance but seems okay in the duplicated project.

I was having problems with this same channel earlier in the week - Cubase crashed every time I tried rendering in place just for a short region. Yet I’m able to freeze the track and render a full mixdown without a problem.

Hi,

Cubase creates a *.dmp/ips file, if it crashes. You can find theme here:
Mac: macOS Console utility > Crash Reports (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).
Win: %userprofile%/Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps
