Create Bb Treble Clef Euphonium part from Bass Clef Euphonium part

Sorry if this is elementary — I’ve actually done this once before, but it was all guesswork.

I’ve set up my score for concert band in transposed pitch, and I need to create a treble clef B-flat euphonium part from the bass clef part in the score.

I don’t understand the Clef and Transposition Overrides dialog in Dorico, despite having read the manual and some other pages online that reference it.

I do a fair amount of band scores, and this should be stupid-easy. But it just baffles me every time.

Looking for some help here. Thanks.

First, make sure you don’t have an Explicit Clef. Click on the Clef, if it turns orange - delete it.

In Setup mode, duplicate the Euph part and rename it.
In the Clef and Transposition override dialog use the following settings.

Craig_F: Thanks. There was an Explicit Clef — something I hadn’t come across before. This was a file I had imported as MusicXML from an existing Finale file I wanted to clean up; maybe that’s where the clef came from. I had tried the same settings you recommended in the Clef and Transposition dialog several times and got nowhere. Deleting the Explicit Clef solved the problem.

This is very likely the source. You should also check for unexpected independent key signatures and time signatures in xml imports.

This is a notorious issue with Finale imports. Dorico 6 has a new command Delete Initial Clefs which can be invoked via the Jump Bar.
