Create tempo track help please...

OK, Using Cubase 5.5.3 and also have 6.5.4 installed. Here’s the scenario;

I get songs sent to me that have been recorded elsewhere. They are in multi track wave file format and always have a click track included. What I want to do, after dropping them into a new audio project, is create a tempo track from this click track so that the ruler aligns precisely and any subsequent edits I do are made all the more simple.

So far I have tried detecting Hitpoints from the clicks, create markers from hitpoints, then go to the arrange window and drag the markers onto the correct quarter note beat with the Time Warp tool selected and the quarter notes magnetic (events on the snap to?). This works fine BUT if the song is 140 bars of 4/4, my wrist aches before half way.

Is there an easier and faster way to do this in Cubase 6 that I should be using please? Perhaps a function that snaps ALL of the markers to their respective positions AT ONCE. I dunno…

Please help a frustrated old man here…

Cubase 6 “tempo Detection”, and preferably use the click track for that.

Thanks Mr TC, that makes sense in principle. What would I do without your copious knowledge of the monster that is Cubase?
