Having spent an embarrassingly long time trying to figure out why some layouts in an orchestral project didn’t seem to be obeying the First page settings in the Default Part set - the only one active in the project - I thought it might be useful to describe what happened in hopes of helping someone else avoid the same frustration. I hasten to add this it was 100% operator error.
Turns out the template I was using had been set up for 8.5 x 11 size paper for the parts and 11 x 17 for the score, since I often end up sending PDFs or printing from them myself. As I was tweaking individual part layouts, knowing I’d be printing to 9 x 12 this time, I changed the paper size for winds and brass, but not strings or percussion. So when I eventually got to those parts, the title/composer/orchestrator info on the first page didn’t match the positioning of the previous parts, yet they were all referring to the same Default Part First page master page.
I finally realized that I hadn’t changed the page size for those parts, and when I changed it to 9 x 12, all was well. Again, operator error, and probably a stupid mistake to make - why didn’t I change all the parts to the same size paper at the same time? No good answer, I’m afraid, but I hope this might save someone else a lot of head-scratching!
