I have a project with the roland TD50x snare playing the snare, and made audio files of the playback. I noticed that in the same project I like the sound of the RX11 snare sound better. I tried using the same channel settings but it made it more like a gunshot. In another project I had used a procedure to replace a live bass drum with a media sample BD.
I would like to do the same with using either the midi or the audio track in the project. I have both the midi track and the audio track made from the RX11. Do I cut just one instance of the RX11 snare and drop into a new sample track to start?
So if I try to drop part of an audio track or a midi track in the project to the sampler track I get the circle with red slash.
So I just load a sample in from media bay, another rim. Then I try to hear it. I have the Yamaha piano DGX305 as input, local control off. Out is synthdrum group, which sounds if I play anything else assigned to it. I just have to give up for now, can’t do any modifications or anything when I can’t even play or hear it.
so without the keyboard input and much more time, I was able to get the sound I wanted into the sampler track, make a midi track from the hitpoints of the track I wanted to play it and then move those to the sampler track. It has the right sound and plays, but not in sync with the audio track, but right after. I think this must be due to the fact that the audio event I imported didn’t start at the beginning. Is there any way to move it to the beginning, so it’s not delayed?
By moving the sampler track back and forth, I could find a spot where the visual misalignment plays in time, but I don’t like this solution.
Move the ‘S’ which is sample start, to the start of the sample. Use Zoom to get it perfect.
You can also use ‘Drum Track’ for this task, which might be better. Right now some bugs still with sampler track…

That was so useful, Michael, able to move ahead again, thanks!
Now when I tried with bass drum in another project, I had problems. The sample track was including the whole loop, so I I cut out one beat and moved to the head of a new track. But in the sampler window, after dragging it, it still showed as part of a loop, but enclosed, and I could moved the start right to its beginning. I proceeded anyway, with getting the midi file from the desired track’s hitpoints and then dropping into the sampler, but although it looks aligned, they fall behind the beats as the other did at first. I don’t know why I succeeded before, and this time got the whole loop and not being able to move the s points. Any ideas?
I got beyond that, by bouncing the audio so that it was the only event on the track. I though I had it right but at the end, the sampler track derived from the hitpoint generated midi track had no sound. Have to start again. …………………………………
Finally succeeded. Apparently a problem when drums are assigned to a group channel. When you solo one track and then change to another, where none are selected for a moment, the DRUM group mutes, and when you solo another trac, it doesn’t come back on., so its out of sight and you must burrow down to it and turn it back on again. Especially a nuisance if you have different folders of drums and you want to silence all in one folder to check the different set or take in another because when you mute the one, and go to the other, then no sound till you find and unmute the drum group track.
