I am writing an orchestral piece that uses an additive time signature, and I have been using dashed barlines to help add clarity within each measure. However, when viewing the parts that are not playing during this section, I still want them to have multimeasure rests, but due to the extra barlines it won’t create the rests. Is there a workaround to allow me to group these measures together?
Yes, they show in all other instances. I think yours has two separate time signatures, which from my testing results in each measure being counted separately (e.g. measure 25 starts on the B rather than the E in your example).
If you enter it as 3/4|2/4, it becomes an aggregate time signature – looks the same as an alternating time signature, but each bar spans the full value. Note the gray bar numbers here:
It’s true that you can’t get the time signature to display exactly the way you have it; it can either display as above, or as 5/4 (if you enable the Combine Compatible Aggregates property). Whoops, @Janus got it! How did you manage that?
