Creating multimeasure rests with custom barlines

Hello all,

I am writing an orchestral piece that uses an additive time signature, and I have been using dashed barlines to help add clarity within each measure. However, when viewing the parts that are not playing during this section, I still want them to have multimeasure rests, but due to the extra barlines it won’t create the rests. Is there a workaround to allow me to group these measures together?

That doesn’t happen to me…

Are you sure you have multibar rests enabled for this layout?

Yes, they show in all other instances. I think yours has two separate time signatures, which from my testing results in each measure being counted separately (e.g. measure 25 starts on the B rather than the E in your example).

No, I can display it like yours and the bar numbers are correct…

If you enter it as 3/4|2/4, it becomes an aggregate time signature – looks the same as an alternating time signature, but each bar spans the full value. Note the gray bar numbers here:

It’s true that you can’t get the time signature to display exactly the way you have it; it can either display as above, or as 5/4 (if you enable the Combine Compatible Aggregates property). Whoops, @Janus got it! How did you manage that?

Edit: Oh, I see.

Precisely what I was looking for! How did you manage this?

Aha, this works great. Thank you!
