Maybe I’m just dumb, but how do I create a new instrument track with a default instance of the VST of my choice? When I pick “new instrument” it brings up a menu where if I want to pick a VST, I have to pick a preset for that VST. But I don’t want a preset and may very well not have any presets saved for the instrument I want. How do I just create a new instrument with no preset?

Add instrument track. When the menu comes up, click the Browse button and the presets menu should disappear.
Then you should be able to load instrument with default settings.
Or look for preset called “init”.
