How should I set the Crescendo hairpin?
I must enter the green section as shown in the image on the left.
I would:
select first bar; shift + d; p cresc. [ enter ]
select remaining 3 bars: shift + d; <> [ enter]
Youâll need to move the center of the hairpin to right and make sure âBarline interactionâ is set to âstop beforeâ.
E.g.,
Or maybe easier for a consistent spacing: enter p< as the dynamic, and cresc. as a suffix.
I never understood that notation. Why the redundant âcresc.â? How would one play that any different than simply: p< ?

Even if âBarline interactionâ is set to âstop beforeâ, it still crosses the barline.
What if you select it, and do Edit > Reset Position ? (or switch off End Offset in the properties).

There is no change in either case.
Maybe ckeck that value in Engraving Options (it must be a positive value, default is 3/4).
Otherwise please post a project that shows the issue.

How should this situation be resolved?

The value for âRelative to Barlineâ is set to the default.
If you want your hairpins to never cross the barline when they end on the first note of next bar, choose this option (Engraving Options>Dynamics>Gradual Dynamics>Advanced Options.)
If something is still not working on your end, please post a file here.
