I just finally did the crossgrade from Cubase 13 Pro to Nuendo 13, but all my Audio Connections and Control Room settings from Cubase are gone.
(I do realise that it is a different application, but for all intents and purposes, Nuendo is just like a super beefed up version of Cubase, in that it operates and looks almost identical.)
I’m having difficulty setting the Nuendo Audio Connections - Control Room to what I’m used to for easy workflow (particularly with my Dolby Atmos set up),
so my first question is: is there an easy way to import my Audio Connections settings from Cubase 13 to Nuendo 13?
Also, all the macros aren’t there, so…
(2) 2nd question: Is there a way to import all the macros from Cubase to Nuendo?
Did you save your User Profile in Cubase and then export it and import it in Nuendo? That might be the easy way.
In case that doesn’t do it all, save a control room preset the way you like it in Cubase. The presets for Audio Connections is part of the file “RAMPresets.xml”, so find that file in the Cubase settings folder and copy that over to the same directory in the Nuendo settings Folder. (Exact location of settings folder depends on if you’re Mac or Win, but easy to google.)
For Macros, you should just be able to copy the KeyCommands.xml file from the cubase settings folder to the Nuendo one. If that doesn’t work, save a preset of your key commands in Cubase. Close Cubase. Then bring that KeyCommands FOLDER (not the .xml file) from the “Presets” folder of Cubase over to the same location in the Nuendo settings folder. Then you can load that preset from inside Nuendo.
Thanks so much for your quick response. I managed to get the macros to mostly play ball with your advice, but no luck with User Profile to import the Audio Connection settings.
I’ll tinker a bit more to double cross that I haven’t missed something.
But again thank you so much.
I don’t know about Control Room settings, but regarding Audio Connections, you can only copy the .xml file from Cubase and try it but while it is quite a long and sometimes, an arduous process to create new connections, I simply start a new template or modify an existing one so that the record tracks are properly set, as well as inputs.
I don’t use outputs because I tatke the stems from VSTi’s, and bring them into an earlier version of Neudno on a lesser machine, via Track Archives, which only negates Markers, and Tempo but the fact that I can use a frozen system, that only receives security updates commemorate with internet use, shows how good SB software actually is.
Just did the test. Copied the RAMPreset.xml to the Nuendo presets folder. But Nuendo seems not be able to read it. So you have to start from the scratch.
I am also sitting on the fence for a crossgrade. But uhhh… it’s a lot of work to get my Cubase songs running in Nuendo.
I did it under a 40% off sale and have never looked back.
As someone said in another of these threads, there are many audio tools not in Cubase that are in Nuendo but even then, I don’t use them because there are so many 3rd party plug-in’s, I just don’t have to be concerned about stock plug-in’s but I do admit SpectalLayers does interest me.
What I am anticipating, is song lyrics so that performers can be shown what to sing (or narrate) on a video screen, and you just can’t do that in a non-post DAW.
good to know and thanks for the info. I did save them in Cubase first. But maybe I did something wrong. Or took the wrong RAMPreset.xml. Will try again.
P.S.
Has now partially worked. Only the Control Room presets are not read by Nuendo. Input and output are all there from Cubase.
P.P.S.
Solved. Controlroom has its own preset, “ControlRoomPresets.pxml”.
I just in process of switching over. I found, following tips on this page most everything worked easily. I did have lack of audio but then manually copied my Cubase Control Room settings (I don’t have a lot of ins/outs. The ins were there but outs weren’t. Once those were set everything was good (that I can tell so far).
