Crossgrade validation number seems not to work

i was finally able to complete the purchase. however, even though i logged into my account, there was no where to actually use the verification number Steinberg sent me. i was thrown into the verification process again.

weird and upsetting.

actually, in looking over the email that Steinberg sent, all they state is “Your eligibility verification request was successful” and then they have a link to the crossgrade shopping page. once that’s complete i’m requested to log into my account (which i do) and from there i’m pushed back into the validation page. i have a customer number (what i thought was the validation number) but, again, there seems no logical place to actually use that number. buying Dorico seems overly complicated.
