cubase 1.0.8 Button press delay

Hello.
We just installed cubase 1.0.8 LE on Windows XP. Just after we started, we noticed that we had a horrible delay when we clicked the drums, about 0,5 seconds delay, which makes it rather unplayabale.

Any help?
