Just updated to Cubase 10 from 9.5 (i already had the license for 10 from 4 years ago).
I also downloaded 10.5 (wasn’t sure if my license for 10 covered it as well).
Sure enough it needs a new license for it.
So, how can I get a license for 10.5 (essentially an upgrade from 10) and for how much.

You have to update to Cubase Pro 12. For backwards compatibility reasons, the license in your USB-eLicenser dongle will be updated to Cubase Pro 11, which can run all past versions for as long as the dongle is connected to your computer.

So ,there is no direct upgrade path from 10 to 10.5 whatsoever.

You can only ever upgrade to the current version but you can use earlier versions still as long as you gave a dongle.
