Cubase 10.5 Slow Export Times

I just upgraded from 10.0 to 10.5 and noticed export seemed to take for ages. Today I exported a section of a project in both versions:

  • CubasePro v10 took 27 seconds
  • CubasePro v10.5 too 53 seconds
Allowing for error, it looks like a factor of 2 to me…

Is there a new setting somewhere I should modify?"
Or maybe a setting has changed in the upgrade…

Is no-one else suffering from this problem? I thought £30 to upgrade from 10.0 to 10.5 was a bargain. Not so sure now…

Only thing that comes to mind is buffer size. Is this the same in both v10 & 10.5?

I think I just found it by accident. Haven’t proven it yet though.

If you go to Preferences/VST-Plug-Ins there’s an option that says “Suspend VST3 plug-in processing when no audio signals are received” and it wasn’t ticked. I knew VST3 had this feature but didn’t know it was a Preference setting. I shall post when I’ve verified any time reduction…

Is it safe to use the suspend vst3 now ?
I believe it is still not fixed, could be wrong.

I retried the original export on v10.5:

  • Setting off took ~57 seconds.
  • Setting on took ~30 seconds.
So that seems to be the issue.
peakae: I found other pasts back in November about CPU peaks, suggesting turning this setting off was a cure. I shall keep an eye/ear out for this…
