My cubase 10 doesn’t start anymore. I re-installed and everything…Now to the question - Can I upgrade to a newer version or do I have to buy a full version and not just a upgrade version?

Which Cubase version (Pro, Artist, etc.) do you have?
If you open your MySteinberg account an log in - can you see your Cubase license? In this case you can just buy the upgrade. Or is your license stored on a USB elicenser and you can’t see it in your account?
Hi! I have 10 LE AI ELEMENTS. If I log into Steinberg I can see my license there, My main concern is that it still wount start.
Do you have a physical USB eLicenser with your license stored on it, too?
Cubase 10 runs on the old licensing system and the servers are shut down. If you have got a USB eLicenser you can still run it until your dongle breaks. If you’ve got a USB licenser please download the eLicenserControlCenter here
This will work.
If you’ve got no usb eLicenser you are eligible for a free update to Cubase AI 14 since you own AI 10. This version works with the new licensing system - no eLicenser required. However, this is a version below Elements.
Or you update to Elements 14 for 49,99€ which is what I’d do anyways.

Cubase LE, Cubase AI and Cubase Elements are 3 different versions of Cubase.
You should be using Cubase Elements since that is the one with largest feature set out of the 3, just incase you didn’t know already.
They should be using the one they have a license for, I’d say.
Well it’s important for him to understand otherwise he could potentially purchase a more expensive upgrade unknowingly.

On my box there’s a card that says “Your Download Access Code:” Cubase Elements 10 Retail”
In that case you most probably own Cubase Elements 10. If you want to be absolutly sure you can upload a screenshot showing your licenses in your account (.please make sure to grey out any personal information, of course! ). If you can see Elements in your account you are good to go.
