Cubase 10 expectations, hopes, etc.?

I guess it will as usual. A bit of everything. Some new plugins, some updated plugins, some new features and a lot of new bugs.
Im hoping for some serious rework on workflow for hardware controllers. QC2.0 and VST4 SDK where it have to be implemented not as today where it is optional and majority of vendors totally ignores it. Add to that Generic Remote 2.0, and a common command dialogue where you see keyboard and remote commands in the same dialogue and function binding window. A new colour hinting to if the function are saved with the global settings, project etc. A lot of bugfixes and cleanups.

I hear you, yeah. With what I’m saying (and have seen/experienced in all other DAWs I’ve tried/used) nothing would change with that function – you would still be able to freely assign as many extra MIDI inputs to any VSTi channel/output, just as you can now.

I’ve only been using v9.5 for about a week (used Pro24 back in the day).

I would like the Close window “X icon” to be consistently in the same place (upper right).
Not sometimes in the lower left (like the Midi Editor).
There’s a certain amount of Windows muscle memory that’s hard to overcome.

Wishful thinking: A full macro recorder/editor. Then creating macros would be a snap.

Ableton Link support, pretty please

the only feature I would like to see is better use of the cpu, like logic

Some ideas in my case:

-RMS meter in every channel.
-Better CPU handling with high consuming plugins
-IR Convolution Reverb plugin
-Pitch correct plugin (like AutoTune EFX)
-Stereo to dual mono conversion IN the session when handling ST tracks (PT has this function since a long time)
-Better and faster time when you open the software (I mean, with an even more humble setup that i have now, PT 10 launch in no more of 10 seconds, Cubase up to 35 seconds!!! :frowning:
-Since it´s more of a “musician friendly” DAW, they should update their bass, guitar and drum tools (Groove Agent, VST Bass and Amp Rack). In this matter, Logic has so many better sounding VST right out of the box, with Cubase it takesa little tweaking, wich in some cases could be a deal breaker when you are writing some ideas. With the GarageBand app for iPhone i can get a better drum sound with almost no tweaking! :open_mouth:

This is more of a personal concern:

I HATE the fact that when i´m recording a track and i want to change the volume of another, the record setup changes to the second track, that´s a little too complicated to deal with.

Also, when you work with a lot of tracks, and you´re using the mouse wheel to navigate the editor zone, sometimes you messed up with the values of volume in certain tracks. I like the way that PT behaves in that matter, when no matter you do, the mouse wheel doesn´t affect values when you are upon the volume box in the channel area.

100% agreement.

  1. I expect they’ll release a nice step sequencer and possible “pattern” workflow. I hope they don’t chase too much after the Ableton and FL users though.

+1

Improvements on piano roll

  • Fold option for MIDI, Is a great hack helper for compose melodies check this links for see what fold is:

Amen to that!
I used Windows 7 64 bit for years now, works just fine, why change and upset the apple cart as the saying goes

…yes, great for we users to have the flexibility but from Steinberg’s point of view it’s an extra OS to check everything with. FWIW, Halion 6 was originally launched as supported for Windows 10 only.

Get rid of those ridiculous round pop up menus on either side of the panners. A right click for menu access to the panner state will do.

  1. Mono / Stereo conversion directly, an easy way, without bouncing (like on PT)
  2. Variaudio button for bypass for all tracks or selected tracks
  3. VU meter when it’s on direct monitoring rec
  4. Moving tracks on the mixer
  5. Improve and update old Cubase VST plugs, with better GUI, resize, Undo…
  6. Scales on Variaudio, and improve the algo (better low notes detection, for examples…)
  7. Navigating and Editing names in the mixer using the TAB, as on the project
  8. Link tracks on the project
  9. Sample Accurate Automation
  10. Link automation for multiple tracks

I hope for some improvements or at LEAST bug fixes for Eucon.

These are good.

I’ll add:
The ability to save preset chains in the offline processing.( like Nuedo has )

An actual button to quickly access and show the current state of pre and post fader.

Get rid of the circle pop-up menus on other side of the panners in exchange for a right-click context menu to access panner states.

Eliminate the double click to open a plug-in and replace it with a single click. ( as it is a double click opens the plugin faster than a single click )

Replace midi tracks for multi out instruments with instrument tracks for all like logic pro and Studio One has.

AAF. Nuendo Lite, sorry Cubase Pro, would benefit hugely from having basic pro audio features enabled. I have to use either Logic or Pyramix to open projects from other DAWs.

i wish to see new asio driver that can see all audio devices, and use all of them in cubase.
wonder why there is such limitation for one hardware at a time, its been long time that way.

I would also like this.

Yes!

Two tiny wishes.
MIDI clock destinations and MIDI timecode destinations per project. Now this is ‘global’.
A bigger scroll menu for both and a scroll bar for MIDI clock destinations.

Hit point detection finally fixed.
