I agree. This is really important yet they’ve ignored users requesting EUCON updates and fixes for long enough. At least the mixer config views should be reflected on the avid controllers.
Eucon integration has advanced considerably on pro tools as of late. Don’t the programmers realise how frustrating it is when busy in the midst of a large project? You change your mix configuration with a click to just show drums or 1 of many orchestral sections, vocals, choirs and harmonies and it’s a brilliant feature but then when you have bank back and fore on the Avid controllers through huge numbers of tracks on the controllers to actually find the mix config tracks that have been filtered to show only, it’s all a huge impediments to work flow and so bloody time consuming and frustrating.
I really doubt I will pay for another update unless EUCON is updated, why should I support Steinberg who persistently ignore the many serious users who have invested in the avid controllers and are completely ignored, quite ignorantly as well if you challenge a mod or a Steinberg employee and they ignore the question?
I know these lack of Eucon updates and fixes are seriously pi**ses quite lot of users and driving them away from the Steinbetg platform. Pleace get this sorted Steinberg! How much longer can you keep not giving your users what we ask for and knowingly pushing them over to Protools for mixing. It’s a really ba business descision and will eventually loose you many long standing who are stranded in this big grey area…!
Thanks - yeah I used this but I find i’s this sort of thing which slows down my workflow (another option and more clicks)
Can’t help but feel they had to add tapemachine as a workaround to how their audio engine works.
Not really - I’m unfortunately old enough to have worked on reel to reels and digital tape machines and thats been the workflow since I dont know when in recording. It just makes Auto Direct Monitoring behave like it really should. Without tape machine style turned on you have to manually manage your monitoring alright
Me too! Many a happy day splicing tape and what not! I think this is actually one of the main design issues in Cubase - skeuomorphism. Steinberg constantly re-create hardware workflow/behaviour in their software. Why would you build a DAW to behave like an old tape machine? It’s crazy. When monitoring is enabled, in other DAWs, anything recorded on that track still plays back. That’s the default - you don’t need to toggle anything. You just record your music.
Agreed - Tapemachine style monitoring should be the default setting for monitoring and its the first thing I need to turn back on when I do a new installation. I’m not sure of the reason why it should be any other way but it might be historic… same as that inconsistent pre-fader send and pre-fader insert colour issue that altered on last release
i had a dream…!! we can still dream
but actually i red an article in steinberg site with one of the managers or developers, that they are working on none latency asio if i remember correctly.it was about 2 years ago.
but really i expect for new and improved tools(one example range tool in midi editor and multiple selections of ranges and do process in one go to all of them, selecting only one at a time is tedious for large editings)
i like how S1 implement and approach editing workflow and tools
