Cubase 11 is near?

These are just screenshots from the leaked manual slapped on top of old Cubase background with some commentary.

Version 11 looks like this. Notice the changed audio performance meter (bottom right) and track visibility (top left)

I’ve stumbled upon the youtube video showing C11’s beta manual. While I’m still missing enhancements on some old tools, this leak proves Steinberg worked hard during lockdown and there’s quite a lot of new stuff coming up, some of it quite juicy, I’m not skipping this one.

Hmm… build date shown as Aug 20 2020 - should mean some solid QA time has gone into this one…!

only the new performance meter look worth the upgrade

The new plugins look nice, but I already have all that capability from other plug-ins. Nonetheless, it is nice to see it in the main product.

The different scales are interesting. I wouldn’t use this in the near term, but again, I am glad to see that part of the product evolve.

I could definitely benefit from the ARA streamlining.

To me, the feature that looks most interesting is the export mixdown queues, although I’m not sure I understand how that will work. If it is what I think it is, it will be a nice boost to my workflow.

of course i was kidding about the performance meter graphic ))
there are some nice features, and some of them will boost workflow ,but for me (if looking at the leaked beta doc ) its not the top features i wanted/needed !
its little beat frustrating the slow evolvement for features you wait to implement for years

I hope there is something much more impressive included than what has been leaked. Even Ableton’s Live 11 update is much more ambitious. And that’s not saying much, because I also think the Live 11 update is underwhelming.

Like what?

To me, the new Export Window multi-tasker is one of the most exciting developments in Cubase history. Does Ableton have that?

It’s a paradox… many of us love the annual updates. And SB loves the annual chunk of revenue.

But the downside, of course, is that a year is -not- a lot of time. So when people (like me) complain about underwhelming update… or a lack of cleaning up inconsistencies… it’s probably because THEY SIMPLY DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME between updates.

So the question becomes: are you willing to wait -2- or even -3- years for a really tremendous but far costlier update (like Omnisphere has done) or just keep getting these ‘good but not great’ updates that never have a chance to really ‘finish’ the product (ie. make every feature un-clunky)

I turned on English captions, and seems he was not too impressed !

"… so death is regrettable "

:astonished:

is it today… tomorrow???

I hope.

Well, I woke extra early this morning and thought it might be at the bottom of my bed :christmas_tree:

To be fair… I don’t use a fraction of the features already… But still here lusting for more.
Bit like my VST journey 2008 - 2011 :weary:

The site that leaked the beta document suggested it was being released on the 12th.

I would like to see an overhauled UI first. The current UI has many inconsistencies and is not intuitive in many aspects. The inconsistency in the use of the “e” button is one example. Also would like smooth scrolling and trackpad pinch zooming. And a dongle-free option.

Borrowing some ideas from FL’s piano roll would be nice, such as scale detection and highlighting, recalling the prior note length when placing new notes, and a means of erasing notes as you pass the mouse cursor over them. FL uses a hold of right-click, but this could be done by holding a key while left-clicking and dragging over notes to be erased.

And I’d like the manual to be overhauled. There are many places where it says “you can…” without explaining how it is done.

Refresh any instruments that have small UIs that can’t be resized, such as Retrologue.

Update Groove Agent with tap2find (EZDrummer) or a feature to follow a given track and generate drums (Logic).

Add the ability to go straight into a project without identifying a project folder at the start. Remember defaults for audio connections so I don’t have to pick my input/output setting every time I open a new project.

And eliminate crashes. I had a simple session running one track with Groove Agent this week and it crashed.

Update the score entry. Studio One’s score entry based on Notion is very intuitive to use.

These would have made for a compelling upgrade for me. Most of these are boring and don’t make for strong bullet points on a release. But they would have had me upgrading quickly and abandoning other DAWs.

today is the C day?

Actually there is but it depends if they are willing to. Take Studio One for example. They have released Version 5 in June and in a few months 5.1 with retrospective record, track visibility and search features plus lots of other enhancements for free and around every 6 weeks they release bug fix releases. So being a more resourceful and established company Steinberg could do it if they wanted to.

You should consider making a template project of your own. (Save as template from the file menu). Then you get things like the audio input output settings and loaded drum maps etc from the get-go.

just pointing out that they asked us…TWICE…what we wanted. We replied.

in general… they ignored us

nonsense.
