Hi guys,
I upgraded today from Guitar Rig 6 (GR6) to Guitar Rig 7 (GR7) and it is not working in the way GR6 did/does.
I always use it with Constrain Delay Compensation (CDC) turned on. If I engage CDC with GR7 it will actually turn off the power switch of GR7. I can see this when I toggle the CDC!
I use the UR-RT4 Audio Interface.
Anyone successfully using Guitar Rig 7 Pro with Cubase 12?
Yeah when enabled cubase usually turns off all the plugins that generate a big delay so you can monitor the recording channel only with the delay added by the hardware according to buffer settings. That’s without direct monitoring of course.
So maybe gr6 was lighter and didnt have much delay thats why it stayed on when cdc was turned on.
If you’re using it with a powerful pc and you’re in a light project where mixing process hasn’t started yet (so you got no more plugins) then
go to studio setup and disable ASIO guard so you’re free of guard’s latency,
then on left side under audio system choose your driver, open control panel and lower your buffer settings to the lowest possible.
If you can work without glitches then you will have minimal latency that will allow you to work.
if not then increase the buffer step by step till you have no glitches and latency is not a problem. test it and find what is best for you
I have an i7 four core CPU which is about 4 years old now. So, it looks like I may need to change my template.
Well… I did what you recommended and what’s strange at the moment, with CDC engaged and my track monitor on (the speaker icon) and the track selected (highlighted), I get no signal/sound… but leaving the monitor on and selecting another track I get sound! Toggling this I can see that this is happening and at the same time the ‘Maximum Load’ meter is pinned when selected and about 60/70% when not selected. Likewise on play back, should not have a track with GR7 selected else it will play as a DI guitar.
So… it looks like a re-think on the template front tolessen the load overall.
I put ASIO guard back on and little or no difference that I can see atm. I’ll try again in the morning.
Thanks almaelectronix
this has drawn my attention…I checked with GR6. It doesn’t show any value in the Mixer for the Channel Latency at all… How many ms does GR7 introduce now? Does the value at the Mixer change when you select different presets? If so, maybe you can identify the component causing the delay.
Thank you all for your replies which have been useful.
MarcoE, the delay value in the mixer for GR7 is the same for GR6, which for me is 0.3ms and 16 samples. BTW what value do you have for your delay compensation?
Phil. excellent video. I have now adopted this alarm track, thanks for sharing! Yes this has caught me out many times over the years…
I have looked in the Preferences, under VST and my setting was default at 0.0 ms. Is this the value you mean?
However, the fact remains, I can’t monitor and record Enable the same track when selected as it turns off GR7’s Audio Engine button! I can get around this for now but it is frustrating and prone to error. I do this by selecting another track while keeping the Record Enable and Monitor on the GR7 track, if you see what I mean.
