I am just about to re-install everything on my Mac Studio M1 Max. I have Monterey currently installed, and I was wondering if I should upgrade to Ventura. I would not say I have any significant issues with Monterey except Cubase occasionally crashing sometimes, but I cannot tell if that is just Cubase, Monterey or the integration between them.
My question: Those of you who have Mac OS Ventura with Cubase 12, how is the stability?
I had Ventura when first getting my 16"MacBook Pro M2 and had no problems running C12 , upgraded the OS to Sonoma 14.1.2 and Cubase to C13 and everything has been fine.
Never had a crash with either Ventura or Sonoma
If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. In my experience, Monterey has been by far the best recently & in terms of NOTbreaking 3rd party apps, drivers, plugs etc. Zero issues with C12 or C13 for that matter. If I want stability and consistency, I boot back into Monterey.
Sonoma on the other hand, what a mess. Problems with all those things listed above, plus lost all my personal Photos MyAlbums (when insisting it ‘upgrade’ the database), many complaints about this at Apple support, unanswered. Rubbish. Also has consistent problems in not mounting some external drives (my Sonnet M2 4x4 in particular (widely reported in MacRumors fora). Ditto SoftRAID drivers.
This is on a 7,1 Mac Pro, Intel YMMV with Apple Silicon, but I’d still be inclined to leave it alone.
