Cubase 12 feature and upgrade

I have Cubase Pro 10.5 but learned that higher version of Cubase allows users to extract tracks from imported wave/mp3 files. Could someone point me to the correct URL so I can purchase the upgrade? I might want to go to Cubase 12? Thanks for any pointers!

What do you mean by “extract tracks”? Are you talking about SpectraLayers?

Be aware of the fact that Cubase 13 is coming soon. However, things are a bit messed up right now in the Steinberg sales department …

Yes I just now recognized it is spectralayers…. Thx for pointing that out. How much is it to upgrade from 10.5 to 12 or 13? I can wait a bit.

I also heard I won’t need the license usb but I guess I still need it to download the download assistant?

Cubase 12 comes with Spectralayers One, not the full.
So you may want to purchase Spectralayers 10. And I guess you can use it inside 10.5, not sure though.
Google for Spectralayers and check specs and requirements. Also works on standalone

You can currently get it for less at Sweetwater (if you are in the US) …

Steinberg Cubase Pro 12 Upgrade from Cubase Pro 4-10.5 (Download) | Sweetwater

As of Cubase 12, it is now using dongle-free Steinberg Licensing. You will need your USB-eLicenser plugged in to verify the update code. After that your eLicenser based Pro 10.5 should be converted to a non-upgradeable 11 license, allowing you to run earlier versions (with the dongle plugged in). For 12 and later, you get 3 activations per license. More info can be found here …

I don’t know for sure when the grace period for 13 will start. So if you want to play it safe, and want Cubase 13 instead of 12, I would suggest waiting for the official release. I think it’s ready, but they need to straighten out the situation with a new online shop provider first.
