I definitely am okay with the prospect of this new licensing system, don’t think it’s as big of a deal as some making it to be… but… I’d still choose dongle for my studio computer.
Maybe this isn’t logistically feasible or economic, but I created this thread
to suggest that Steinberg create a new dongle that can be activated with the new licensing system and it work similar to the 1yr whereby once it is loaded onto the dongle, to be used elsewhere it would have to be taken off the dongle. If someone loses the dongle, just like now, they lose the license.
Users would have to order the dongle direct from Steinberg and pay the shipping. They could use the online system while they wait for the dongle to arrive.
If you’re giving users two licenses per product, someone could load one license onto dongle, and keep one for online. ie, dongle for studio, online for laptop/portable.

my guess is though, %99 of people are just going to end up using the online, so catering new dongle development to 1% probably isn’t worth it
