Hi, the Cub 12 screen flickering (which can even lead to GPU auto protection/shutdown) is becoming very annoying. From Big Sur to Ventura the issue still persist.
I’ve read on forum the Win/nvidia solution, but nothing on mac (is a more closed system, not simple gpu driver configuration allowed).
So It is my belief that an update is necessary to urgently resolve this issue.
If you have any solutions/workarounds that you would like to share, would be good.
Thanks.
Intel Mac, Amd Radeon pro 560, latest Ventura
Hi @PG75
Sorry to hear about your flickering issues on MacOS. They are not related to the GUI glitches on Windows for Cubase 13 I can already rule this out.
Would you mind filming / recording these flickering issues and sharing them here so that we can start investigating?
Cheers,
Armand
Hi, sorry for delay. Production time…I can’t upload video 'cause maximum size allowed for this is 4MB, my reduced (max reduction) .mp4 is 4,6MB… Alternative way? Maybe an email?
Hi,
A private YouTube Link for instance or a wetransfer link.
Cheers,
Armand
I’ve sent you - DM - a private YT link but probably adding your email is necessary to view it. Let me know if you have any issue accessing the video.
thanks.

Hi @PG75 Thank you very much! Is this running on C12.0.70?
yes on latest Ventura. on Big Sur latest the same.
Additional informations: flickering is a Cubase issue (closing it will cause flicker to cease after a little while) but it’s affecting the whole screen (desktop and other apps) except menu bar. It is not related to wifi and bluetooth I guess cause disabling them doesn’t produce changes. Not related to temperature ( I have monitored it, cooled computer by speeding up fans) and it appears most frequently around 19:00 pm ( but this could be very irrilevant, except for the fact of lapsed time… about 3-4 hour). Sometimes it will not happen at all, sometimes very frequently. Putting MacBook in stop and reopen lid, will solve it, sometimes for a little while, sometimes solve it definitely ( for the current session). Desktop image is removed (black) after closing Cubase so probably there is a video memory addresses issue or bad allocation.
Stopping all stoppable processes doesn’t’ solve. Sometimes (rarely) stopping Steinberg Media Server process leads to normality.
with Cub 11 and 12 (on the same machine) before 12.0.70 no problem except some black square on desktop image after closing, but very stable apps.
Haven’t noticed any flickering on MacMini M2Pro . CB 12 in Rosetta orNative.
Installing iStat menus can help determine what is loading the system.
It does sound a bit like a problem I had with a MacPro years ago when the video card went bad. I replaced it and then found out it was a known glitch in that video card, and Apple sent me $200 to cover the replacement, which I thought was pretty nice.
Hi,
we have been able to investigate and we believe this bug will be fixed in the upcoming C13.0.30.
Cheers,
Armand
Ok, I acknowledge, but I think an update/patch should be released even for C12.
Thanks.
Regards.
Hi, just upgraded to Cubase 13.0.30 and today, after an entire afternoon working on a very heavy session, same graphical bug as ver.12. So the bug seems to persist.
Cheers
Hi @PG75 as far as I understood the bug was fixed by Apple in Sonoma 14.1
I can’t install Sonoma. So, which is the solution? I can’t use Cubase in a pro enviroment and as a pro user, cause this time random bug.
Cheers
