Cubase 12 - Selecting "Always on top" for plugin crashes Cubase [Solved]

I have a recurring issue with a new plug-in by XLN Audio called ‘Life’.

The plug-in opens and functions perfectly. But if I choose the “plugin on top” option, Cubase stops responding. I have to force close it.

Is there a workaround?

Hi,

Can you reproduce it with another plug-in, or just this one? Could you attach a *.ips/dmp file, please?

Mac: macOS Console utility > Crash Reports (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).
Win: %userprofile%/Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps

Hi.
It seems like it’s just this plug-in. I’ve raised it with XLN’s support. There are no crash reports from today

I’ve also tried changing the default “always on top” setting in preferences but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.
Thanks

I received this response from XLN:
“A workaround that seems to have been successful for others is to switch to the “generic editor” and then turn off “always on top”, and after that switch back to “plugin editor”. Could you please try doing that and see if this works?”

It does indeed work.
