Cubase 12 stopped finding Firepods

Hi, Cubase 12 Artist user here running on Windows 10 V22hH2. I’ve been using a couple of Firepods for a some years now without major problems. Recently one unit broke (S/C 48V cap) & to get up & running quickly I bought a couple of s/h replacements. I got them up & running & had them running fine for a day or two then suddenly Cubase stopped ‘seeing’ them (Unmapped). In Audio Setup there is no driver option other than ‘Generic Asio low latency driver’ available. The Presonus driver is running but I’ve noticed it occasionally shuts down. I’ve also noticed that this started happening after an update to Windows 10. The Firepods run OK with Cool Edit Pro2 which I use as a benchmark test. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? TIA

Hi and welcome to the forum,

I would try to reinstall the driver (the latest version). I would recommend installing it as an administrator.

Hi, thanks I looked on Presonus’ support site & the Firepod/FP10 is no longer supported & driver downloads are no longer available from them. I get the feeling I’m being steered in the direction of replacing serviceable working hardware which is always a big disruption, regardless any costs.

If you suspect a problem with a recently installed Windows update, you can uninstall it:

  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates.
  • Select the update you want to remove and then select Uninstall.
