Since I switched to Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Cubase 13.0.51 crashes very often on startup, not counting random and accidental freezes during work.
It was much better on Windows 10 (but still no comparison to Cubase 11 which was stable as a rock!).
I disabled HT for CPU in the BIOS and it is much better (crashes occur much less often) - but as we know this is not the right solution. True, I did not notice that HT significantly affected performance, but this is not a serious solution.
I tried to browse dmp files in WinDbg but it does not tell me much. I have an i9 12900k, 64 GB DDR5 and Asus Prime Z790-A WIFI.
Is there still no clear solution for this? There are a lot of tips and methods on the forum, but there is no clear explanation of the topic (or update). On an old laptop, Cubase 13.0.51 (Windows 10) runs much more stably.
Thank you for this link, although as you can see, it manifests itself differently for everyone. It is also too late for me to go back to 23 because I switched to W11 24H2 straight from Windows 10 in January 2025.
Disabling HT in BIOS helped me a lot (kernelbase.dll crashing cubase is very rare). Freeze also happens much less often. In fact, I have the impression that C13 now shows 10% higher CPU usage (with Defender disabled - I use ESET).
There was also a problem with RME drivers - I had to go back to 4.46 because 4.50 showed the Hammerfall DSP Setting window stubbornly on a different monitor than I wanted. And even after moving it to the second monitor, after minimizing and reopening it, it still showed where it wanted.
And it is better this way because a month ago, every time I turned on the system there was no sound in Windows (Youtube, Chrome, VLC player, etc.). I had to turn on and off the output device in Hammerfall DSP Setting. Probably some patch fixed it.
Maybe we will see the moment when 24H2 will work perfectly without practices like disabling HT.
BTW Could I ask @Martin.Jirsak to analyze my crashdumps files (the link to the zip is in the first post of the topic) ?
Hello, thank you for your answer - that would probably be correct because on my laptop with Windows 10 and Cubase 13.0.51 I have Waves Platinum in version V12.7 and I do not experience crash errors (kernelbase.dll). Everything works perfectly.
However, on the studio computer, with Windows 11 and Cubase 13.0.51 from which I sent the crashdumps files, these are Waves versions V9.2 and V11 (not counting 2 plugins of version V14).
So I have no choice and I have to pay $240 for a new update plan? And it has nothing to do with the 24H2 version of Windows 11? Waves policy has never been fair…
