Hello everyone,
I have Cubase 13 Artist 13.0.21 Bukt 181 (x64) - Built on Jan 17 2024 installed on my computer with an arturia Minilab 3 driver integrated into Cubase using the Arturia Script MiniLab3_Cubase_Daw_Integration_Script_1_0
The basic operation is satisfactory, I can record tracks, operate with chord tracks and operate other synths like SURGE XT for example.
However, when I want to use the instrument to act on the recording of a track by varying some parameter during recording (Timbre, Volume, etc.), the commands from the instrument are not collected in Cubase.
I have reinstalled and reset the driver several times but the problem does not go away.
My theory is that the Script, when installed, does not map the controls correctly, but I don’t know what the correct mapping is or how I can correct it if I’m right. Does anyone else have the same problem?
Does anyone know how it can be resolved?
Thank you very much in advance,
Jorge GĂĽell Cano
My computer has the following configuration
13th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-13700K 3.40 GHz Processor
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)
Windows 11 Pro Edition
Version 23H2
Installed on 08/29/2023
OS version 22631.3235
Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22687.1000.0
There are several different things here:
- First of all, Minilab 3 has different modes: two built-in presets Arturia and DAW, and user presets that can be programmed in Arturia MIDI Center software and uploaded to the Minilab 3.
- In Arturia mode, for example, you can easily modulate parameters of Arturia synths, or in general, any synth via MIDI Learn button. If you use this mode, you need to press Record button to write the modulation into MIDI events.
- If you are in DAW mode, then the Minilab 3 knobs should correspond to the Focus Quick Controls in Cubase. In any VST instrument or effect you can open the Focus Quick Control panel to see, what they are and their order.
- The faders in the Arturia Minilab 3 MIDI Remote script are programmed in the most weird way possible: the leftmost and the rightmost faders are correspond to the Volume and Pan of the Stereo Out in Cubase. I am not sure who at Arturia thought that it is a good idea. The second and third faders are corresponding to FX levels (Send effects levels). I have reported the issue with the faders here: MIDI Remote script for Cubase 12 has bugs with faders - #2 by m.c - MiniLab - The Sound Explorers Community you can find there an instruction how to reprogram the faders to control the selected track instead of a very useful operation of changing Pan for the Stereo Out.

Hello Dmitry,
First of all, thank you very much for your kind help. Indeed, I agree with you that there seems to be a bug in the mapping of the functions of the MInilab controls in its integration with Cubase, in version 13 Artist, not only what happens with the faders but also the knobs that control soundbank parameters are not working correctly or at all.
I understand what you are telling me about “manually” reassigning the functions within the Cubase mapping, however I am not qualified to do so since my knowledge of this environment is very limited. Do you have any idea if there is any Cubase or Arturia documentation which explain how to correctly assign the functionality of the Minilab 3 controls in Cubase?
At the moment, while I improve my training in this matter, all I want is for both the Analog Lab plugin and the MIDI Remote UI to replicate exactly what happens on the instrument.
This would be, in my opinion, a correct integration.
Thanks again for your help.
OK, it seems like you did not try to switch to the Arturia mode. Could you please press on your MiniLab 3 the Shift button, hold it, and simultaneously press the third pad (it says Prog)?
Most likely, if you continue to press Prog, you will see only two values on the screen: Arturia and Daw. Stop when you see Arturia.
Then try to use Analog Lab V. All the knobs and fades should work (even the interface of the Analog Lab V matches the physical layout of the MiniLab 3).
If you want to be all the time in the DAW mode, switch to it. Unfortunately, Analog Lab V has a bug that the Focus Quick Controls mapped in Cubase to some garbage parameters but you can remap them. Press QC button in the top right corner. Then press L button on the left. Now select the first Quick Control knob (to the right from the L button). Then wiggle with the mouse the first knob in the bottom of the Analog Lab V interface. Then select the 2nd Quick Control and repeat. Unfortunately, in this case the faders are not mapped properly. But for the Analog Lab V it does not really matter as they are mapped to the three-band EQ.
I suggest you read the manuals for MiniLab 3:
and
if you want to know more about how to use them. There are also videos on the Arturia YouTube channel that could be also useful, although I did not check them.
If you want to remap faders in MIDI Remote in Cubase, right click the fader and then select the only option there. Then press “Browse functions”, and, for example, choose Volume in the Selected Track menu. I did this for the leftmost and the rightmost faders (to the Pan of the Selected track), and left the 2nd and 3rd faders as levels of the Send 1 and Send 2.
Hi Dmitry,
Thanks for your very useful advice. Sorry to not reply earier but I was very busy.
