Hi. I use a Behringer UMC22 audio interface (Mac Sonoma) and I’ve selected USB audio codec (2) as the input for the device. But in doing so I now can’t get any stereo output sound out of the Mac headphones out which I use to connect to the stereo. Is there a way to solve this does anyone know?
kind regards -Ken
Hi,
Do I understand you right that you want to use two devices? One for input and another one for output?
Hi Martin and thank you for responding. What I’m trying to achieve is for recording purposes to hear the piece of music while recording vocals over it. I’m a novice in that respect. It’s absolutely elementary but I can’t seem to set it up. Via the usb codec I can see the vocals registering via the mic. But I don’t know how to hear the playback. Does that make sense?
The best way to do this is to connect the stereo/headphones or whatever to the UMC22.
If you can’t do that then you need to create an aggregate device in the Core Audio and choose this as your audio device. Instructions on this link.
many thanks Grim I’ll try it.
If its just about flipping your audio on Mac from Speakers to Headphones:
Go to menu item “Studio” → “Studio Setup”.
Pick “Audio System” from the LHS of Studio Setup → pick “Built-in Audio” as your ASIO Driver at the RHS.
Then select “Built-in Audio” from the LHS of Studio Setup, at the right, pick “Control Panel”, and flip from Speakers to External Headphones on the “Output” section…
This is useful and hard to find.
But agree, the solution to your situation is to plug the headphones into the UMC22. But then if you are new to Cubase the next challenge will be “how do I monitor both the cubase tracks and the singer in the headphones without having latency in what I hear?”
Many thanks all for the valuable support. I really appreciate it as recording vocals is all new to me. I’ll try as you all suggested. It seems to be a similar consensus.
It’s worked a treat. Now the hard part. To add my guide vocals. UNListenable
H and thanks so much for you input. I’ve now got a further problem I can’t fathom.
I connected all as described. Worked a treat. I’ve sourced it all via the audio interface and I can hear my test vocals. The vocals register via the built-in audio stereo in. But there’s no signal via the channel I’m recording on. When I press record it flatlines. The signal is entering cubase but not the channel. Might anyone have an idea why this is or is not happening?
I hear my vocals via the headphones
Hi,
Add an Audio Track, please.
Hi Martin and thanks for responding. It’s the audio track I’ve added where there’s no signal and if I press record via the transport panel it flatlines. The signal is not reaching the audio channel for whatever reason.
Hi,
Is there correct Input selected? Is there the Monitor button enabled, please?
Hi Martin. This is a screenshot of what I’ve got plus the aggregate configuration. If you notice the yellow vocals channel on the cpr halfway up.
Hello,
You are using the Talkback as an Input, which doesn’t seem to be correct. Could you attach Audio Connecionts > Input screenshot, please?
Hi,
Select the Left Input as the source, please.
Hi Martin. Many thanks again. Just wondering where I select Left Input. On Audio connections? If I select left the configuration remains the same. Or do I disconnect Front right?
Hi,
Select the Input in the Inspector > Routing. At the place, where you can see the Talkback on the screenshot.
Gotchaaa! You’re a patient genius. We have liftoff!
