Cubase 13 Chord Pads Trigger Notes

I searched the Cubase 13 Pro user manual for “Chord Pads” and could not find an example that explains how I can do the following.
I would like to use a MIDI Track with the trigger notes for the pads that also plays the selected Pattern and records it to another MID Track or an Instrument track. Is there a way to do this or could it be added as an enhancement request?

I tried creating an Instrument Track and a MIDI track with the pad notes but it only plays back the single note.
I would like to trigger the chords and pattern with a single trigger key/note and record that output on a MIDI track.
Please let me know if this functionality exists or if it is in the user manual or if there is a video that demonstrates.

Hi,

I’m sorry, but you cannot trigger the pads from a MIDI Track. The MIDI Track’s output can’t be routed to the Chord Pads.

The only way would be to use a 3rd party virtual MIDI cable software.

@Martin.Jirsak - I tried loopmidi but could not get it to work.
Are there any instructions on the support pages that detail how to set this up to get it to work?
Thanks!

Martin, is this listed as a feature request?
I keep seeing this popping up many times so I think many would like to have it.

Hi,

How did you set it up, please?

Hi,

This thread doesn’t have the feature-request tag. I’m not aware of it.

OK, I made a post as a feature request. Thanks.

Here is how I have loopMIDI set up with no success.

I installed LoopMIDI and created a port
In Cubase 13.0.20, Studio Setup, I tried various settings for the LoopMIDI Port
Active / Visible for the In and Out but these settings do not seem to affect anything
I created an Instrument Track with HALion Sonic 7 and slot 1 has the SR Grand Piano
I created a MIDI Track and a part with a single trigger note of C1 (note 36)

I have tried every combination of Input and Output for the Instrument and MIDI Tracks
The MIDI Track note will trigger the meter but there is no audio when I have the tracks speaker Monitor enabled
I can play the Chord Pads patern from my controller and this is the only way I hear the pattern audio play
I cannot use a trigger note to play the pattern no matter how I try different settings

To me, the most logical routing is for the MIDI Track Input is set to All MIDI Inputs so I can also use my keyboard controller and the output would go to the LoopMIDI Port
The Instrument Track with HALion Sonic would have the Input set to LoopMIDI Port and the Instrument as HALion Sonic
Both tracks would have the Monitor icon enabled
Please correct me if there is some misconfiguration in my setup and let me know if you are able to make trigger notes work somehow.

Example screen shots below

Playing with my Nautilus MIDI Controller and the pattern plays the audio as desired

When playing the trigger notes but there is no audio

I had set this up like in the video I found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-XnUIYMagA
Nothing I try worked.
I voted for the enhancement feature request and I hope you can convince management to add it in an update soon rather than waiting for Cubase 14.

Thank you!

Here are the Inspector settings for the tracks.

Thank you for your time Martin.
