Cubase 13 crashes on startup

Hello!

I just bought the Cubase 13 Pro license and I’m having issues running it properly.

Basically, when its loading and recognizing all the Vst I’ve got, it will stop and the screen will suddenly disappear.

Btw, I’ve got Cubase 12 too, and it runs perfectly, so there must be some incompatibility? I did notice that when the Auto-Align Post is loading, suddenly the Cubase screen will disappear.

I also tried to upload a dmp file but I got this message: “Sorry, it looks like something has gone wrong, the file you are trying to upload is 0 bytes. Please try again”.

I hope someone can help me with this.

Hi,

For the Windows users…

Generate a DMP file and share it via Dropbox or a similar service, please.

Use the Microsoft ProcDump utility to generate a DMP file, please.

  1. Please download ProcDump64 from Microsoft (~650kB) and extract the archive to a local folder on your hard disk.

  2. Run Command Prompt (cmd) as administrator (right click and select “run as administrator”)

  3. Navigate (in the Command Prompt) to the folder with the extracted procdump file.
    For example:
    cd C:\ Users \ \ Downloads \ Procdump
Note: the dmp file will be written into that folder.

  4. Launch Cubase/Nuendo. You can work as usual. At any time, change to the command prompt and start procdump, to monitor Cubase/Nuendo for unexpected behavior (see next step).

  5. Launch procdump64 via Command Prompt:
    Cubase 13:
    procdump64 -e -h -t Cubase13

Nuendo 13:
procdump64 -e -h -t Nuendo13

The -h option will write a dmp file in case of an application hang. This might kick in too early sometimes, in case some action takes a little longer. Feel free to skip the “-h” option, if you are only up for fetching crashes.
The option -e will catch exceptions and the option -t terminations of the application.

  1. Prodump is now monitoring the Cubase/Nuendo process and will write a crash log, in case Cubase/Nuendo crashes or hangs. Perform the action that causes Cubase/Nuendo to crash and send us the generated crash dmp.

ZIP and share the DMP file via Dropbox or a similar service, please.

Yeah, the same problem: it crashes after: “ARA Service: Auto-Align Post”
It starts when I disable trd party plug-ins, but then is unusable due to lack of plugins.
Any ideas? Any suspcious popular plug-in?
Cubase team: don’t ask me to send dump file:
I am NOT your beta tester. Product is not working as I paid for.

Hey Radwoc,
I have fixed this problem and cubase 13 running perfectly, i found i had some plugin file called auto-align i just deleted it using revo uninstaller by searching Auto Align post, that fixed the issue for me, i invite you to try as well, im sure the next maintenance it will fix theses issues other than that all is good

Yeah my friend it helped!

As with every new version , we now expect endless updates, fixing things that worked before.

The problem is that so far nobody is able to reproduce this crash in-house. If you happen to generate a valid DMP on your disk then we would have a chance to potentially understand the root cause and you to get a working product in an upcoming update. Thank you for your help!

Hi @Chris_Andrade, @sam_halabi, @CubaseMadness, @radwoc,

are you working with the software “Novation Automap”? This one troubles Cubase when the Automap software wraps a ARA Plug-In like “Auto-Align Post”. Start the Automap software and “uninstall” the wrapped ARA Plug-Ins. And also make sure that you don’t have plugins like “!AutoALignPost.vst3” (The “!” ist important) installed in your VST3 folder. This bug is already fixed and will be added to the next Cubase update.

We are really sorry,
Michael.

Procdump shows me many “pacefusionexception” violations and Cubase quits immediately. So I can’t use Procdump here and/or something is wrong with iLok.

The dmp file is binary one, due to security reasons how I could check what is inside? Why it is not regular log (txt) or xml file?

Everyone can use WinDbg Preview to look at basic info supplied by the crash file. You can download it and use it too

Same here, is not starting, just hangs on. The issue seems to be connected with third-party plug-ins… This is bad! Very disappointing :frowning:

I will study the feasibility of displaying the exact name of the plug-in being scanned with the corresponding team, so that it helps everyone know where Cubase hangs.

I found the problem, my EZ Drummer was not up to date.
I updated it and now Cubase 13 starts just fine.
This forum is very useful, thanks everybody
