Cubase 13 crashes when opening Cubase 12 projects

Hi,

Do you also experience the crashes when opening Cubase 12 projects, please? Or when?

Hi,

Yes, it’s the very same crash as the other crashes reported here.

Reported to Steinberg and linked with the other crashes. Thank you

Hi all,

thank you very much for the report and sharing your project. We will be investigating ASAP. This crash seems to affect a lot of our users. Needless to say that Cubase shouldn’t crash when opening old projects anyway. Sorry about that.

Cheers

Nope. I have no more crashes now.
Like I said. Once I opened a new project first, then opened the cbase 12 projects, then saved them. I have no more issues.

Thanks for this update. Will this thread be updated once we get a solution or do we need to check a different page?

Hi,

It will definitely be mentioned in the Release Notes, once the version with the fix will be released.

Do we have a time frame for when this next release might happen? I have no reference so I don’t know if we’re talking days or weeks. Thanks

I’m having the same problem! I’ve tried with and without Roseta, deleted preferences, reinstalled Cubase 13… but it keeps crashing every time I try a Cubase 12’s section.

Hi,

Attach the source *.ips file, please.

Cubase crash.rtf.zip (59.5 KB)

Hi,

Please, send the source *.ips file (not the*. RTF), so I can work with it.

Archive.zip (78.0 KB)

Hi,

Reported to Steinberg. Thank you.

I too am having the same issue randomly.
C13 sucks in general.

Hi,

Could you please attach the ips/dmp file to help to find the source of the crash?

Could you be more specific, please? What else doesn’t work for you?

Cubase 13.0.10 64bit2023.11.13 10.49.20.306.dmp (1.0 MB)
Every time I close a project then open another I get a warning that Cubase is unstable, I then have to force quit and reopen the software. I’ve uploaded the crash dump file.

Hi,

This crash is in the Waves plug-ins. You have very old Waves 10 installed. Make sure, you have the latest Waves 10 update installed. Discuss with Waves, if this old version is compatible with Cubase 13, please.

Thanks for the info. I wish I knew how to read those files.

Hi,

We’re also thinking on how to improve Cubase so that it figures out on its own that this crash might rather have to do with Plug-In XXX and not Cubase itself.

Cheers,
Armand

DMP files can be opened with WinDbg Preview, available for free in the Microsoft Store. Dump files are not always very telling (if not fully resolved), but when it’s a plugin or driver it can be quite to understand.
