Cubase 13 crashes when opening Cubase 12 projects

Hi there,

Just upgraded to Cubase 13 and now everytime I open a previous project (made in Cubase 12) or one of my template projects, the program crashes and creates a dump file which I’ve been unable to decypher as to identify the problem. Really don’t understand where to go from here.

Thats the same issue I got.

Open a new project first. Then from that project open, your Cubase 12 project, then save it.

You should have no more problems opening other projects.

Unfortunately, I still get the error even if I do try this method…

Do you also have DMP file, please? Could you also attach it to find out, if it’s the very same crash?

I can confirm the crash happened in Cubase.

Could you try in Cubase Safe Start Mode, please?

Started it in safe mode with all plugins disabled and got the same error.

Hi,

I mean to disable the preferences, not the 3rd party plug-ins, please. You can also try to rename/remove all Cubase preferences folders (when Cubase is down) to get the factory settings.

Cubase Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
Win: %appData% Steinberg/Cubase X_64

Hi,

The crash is in the very same area, as @al-cool’s crash. So it seems, it’s not just one system-specific issue.

Reported to Steinberg and linked both reports.
