Cubase 13 element fails to start due to terminated with an error in a file

Hello everyone
Cubase 13 element had failed to start
It displayed as the application was terminated with an error while executing the following file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\MediaBay\mediaclient.dll
I have tried to restart the computer and use it as administrative but it still won’t work
It keeps on displaying as Safe Mode

I am using Window 11 home

Welcome, @icecreamair32

Bummer… I would :

  • Post here the crashdump file mentioned in your screenshot (the .dmp one). This will allow @Martin.Jirsak and other knowledgeable fellows here to take a look at it.
  • Try to relaunch Cubase with the Disable program preferences option, just in case.
  • As a last resort, reinstall Cubase from the Steinberg Download Assistant running with administrator rights, as it seems that one of the MediaBay component could be corrupted.

EDIT - Added what’s in bold : mandatory to avoid any added issue…

HI i have the same problem on cubase pro 14 what should i do?
i have tried deactivating and it didn’t work
Do some people have wisdom to give?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

You can try to rename/remove all Cubase versions preferences folders to get the factory settings.

Cubase Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
Win: %appData% \Steinberg\Cubase X_64

Where the X is the Cubase version (for example 13).

Attach the *.dmp/ips file.

Mac: macOS Console utility > Crash Reports (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).
Win: %userprofile%/Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps
