I believe I read a post here describing something very similar. If I remember correctly, that user let the computer sit for hours after which the project finally opened. Not sure if this users problem persisted or resolved itself after that initial long wait. If you want, you can try and search for it using the forum search.
Either way, waiting hours to open a project is of course not acceptable. First thing I would do is make sure all your plugins are up to date. If the issue persists, you might be asked to create a .dmp/.ips file for the devs to analyze. Sorry I can’t be of more help.
Thanks @mlib. Yes I sent a crash report to Steinberg the last time it happened, although not on their request.
I don’t think it can be the plugins when the same project opens fine in C12. I’ve reverted to C12 and won’t be going beyond demo stage until the issues with C13 are resolved.
This seemed to work for a bit, but then I got the same problem (see attached).
Do I need to open the project file in C12, set it to WinRT, then close/save and open in again C13, or are the settings global and only need to be set once (as I’d hoped) ?
this setting is global, not project-dependent. You enable it in C13 and it will stick until you change it.
As the application seems to often hang for you: start Cubase 13, go to Studio, change that setting and close Cubase 13 (so that it’s saved in the preferences).
I see Virtual CZ involved, but I wouldn’t know if it triggers an existing issue or if it’s the issue itself, there aren’t Cubase calls I could resolve to have more clues here.
It’s interesting that it is to do with the Virtual CZ VST, but it doesn’t explain why this happens for C13 and not C12. The VST instrument standard hasn’t changed between versions.
Also, why should it crash when I’m shutting down the project?
