Cubase 13 not opening

Hi everyone. I am having trouble opening up Cubase Artist 13 and it gets to the last stage (opens up home screen) and then immediately crashes. I raised the issue with Steinberg support who asked me to send dmp files and system info and they said I was getting a lot of ntdll.dll related crashes with Cubase in the system error report. I took all the steps they asked me to (check I was on most recent update of Windows 11, re-install Cubase 13, repair the operating system using System File Checker).

All these steps were taken but it still crashes. I have also noticed from a few weeks ago when I first started getting the problems with Cubase 11 before upgrading to Cubase 13, that a pop-up window appears related to Yamaha Clavinova saying it is not connected or has no voices - that runs into Cubase via a Midi-sport 2X2 and I deleted that yesterday and then re-installed and updated the driver to see if that made any change, but it still crashes. I also opened Cubase a few times yesterday and this morning using Run as Adminstrator and a pop-up window appeared some of the time saying I had an ID problem with VST Connect. I don’t know if those details shed any more light on the issue affecting Cubase to not open.

Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks. Paul

Hi,

I would probably suggest to make a clean Windows installation.

Apart from the issue with Cubase, do you have any other noticeable malfunctions with other applications or when using Windows OS? Because this could be due to an impending defect in an SSD or RAM module.

Friend, you are not alone. I have a new system Ryzen 7950x, Asus x670e Crosshair Hero, 2*32Gb Kingston, 1Tb SSD Samsung Windows10, 1Tb Windows11. Drops on both systems. Reaper, Studio1 works well with opened GTA5 and Chrome ))
But only Cubase started and crashes, drops on Desktop RANDOMLY.

What is your system config? I try predict…multicore CPU?

Hi, you can make a diagnose to in Windows, in Windows open This PC.
Navigate to:
C:\Windows\System32
Open
perfmon.exe
as administrator (open via contectmenu)

P.S. disconnect USB drives and stick before you make a diagnose.

Hi, maby you can read this one.
In the UEFI you have to deal with some settings to, very important.

In the UEFI you must disable turbo boost en speed step functions for the processor and disable C-state because that put some background process in sleep when idle.

In the settings in Windows, you energy must all be set for the best performance, no energy saving settings, because Cubase need real time audio.

Even the settings of a videocard can give problems in Cubase, because Cubase can not handle all video ram if that is for gaming and have speed processing that are busi in the kernel.
Maby you can use different hardware profiles for your vid card if you want to change settings faster.
So the drivers are loaded in the NT Kernel, and the kernel is the program that load the data into RAM.
Drivers communicate with the hardware.
