Since 13 it does not matter if I save the project, whenever I CLOSE the project, Cubase will ask “Do you want to save the project x”? “Save, Don’t save, Cancel” - As if it is an unsaved project.
It’s extremely annoying and it makes you nervous every time because I have to click “cancel” then, there is no other way to get out.
Anyone experience this bug? Surely there must be. I have 13…30 installed the latest update. This occurs since 13 pro.
Most often some plug-in is calling for this. Some plug-ins are running in time (for example an arpeggiator is in use), then they ask for save without any change.
Thanks, I have pinpointed the problem was with Eventide H3000. Hopefully this can be fixed anyway somehow, many plugins have constantly changing parameters and no other daw seems to “suffer” from it.
Because of being also annoyed by the unnecessary save question: technically it may be true, that plugins are the reason/source for that, but this behavior started on point with Cubase 13. Not in 12 or in any other version I owned before. So I would say, this is a bug on Steinbergs side. Perhaps a bad new feature- bad in my opinion.
I really would like to have the option to turn this off, because YES: it is unsettling every time.
I just had the exact same experience and lost a brand new track I started this morning … probably spent about 3 hours work on it. Gutted. Yeah i should have saved as I went but still this is no good. My only option was to cancel, hoping I had saved at some point but not the case.
Never had this on any previous cubase version and haven’t downloaded any new plugins since upgrading to cubase 13.
Thankfully the audio files are saved so thats something… as it mentioned something like “audio was recorded since blah blah, do you want to save it?”. So yeah, I now have a project folder with no project and a bunch of audio files
I dont understand what your problem was here tbh? Not related to this topic i think? The topic is that cubase asks if you want to save even if you did already. And this happens because of plugins setting new constant parameter values in the background. This wouldn’t cause anyone losing their project
Sounds like a very bad bug if that happened, you should always send a bug report if you run into stuff like that. Probably the application hanged/froze. Fwiw, never encountered anything like it so I’m sure you’re safe to continue with c13 which is imho the most stable version in years. The above “bug” is just something that is annoying when using a certain type of plugin preset
Because I am not very happy with C13 I am jumping back and forth between it, C11 and C12. C13 is the only one that asks to save when a project has already been saved. Also, a related issue, what happened to the asterisk (*) that used to inform you that a project had been changed?
The OP I think received his answer. That is assuming the behavior never happens when the Eventide H3000 is not loaded in any project including disabled status.
What is your OS?
Are you able to pinpoint a plug-in like the OP did?
Does this happen 100% of the time?
Does this happen when starting in Safe Mode with preferences and plugs disabled?
It does happen to me on occasion too, and I think it might have started with C13 but not positive. I have executed a save, then not touched C13 for just a minute, then close and C13 asks for another save. But, as @Martin.Jirsak suggests, it may be due to a plug that is changing in real time. I rarely use aggregators. But for myself, it has not been an issue that I’m willing to spend time tracking down.
If there was a step-by-step 100% reproduction, that would definitely help.
I am wondering what other plugs could possibly be doing this?
i had had this happening to me, lost 1h of mixing session that i need to deliver tomorrow morning, is there a way to recover this work ?
i simply couldn´t hit the save button, while trying to close cubase it always asked if i wanted to save the project without success, i simply had to close it without saving …please tell me i can recover this…
when cubase started to ask to save i remember i went into the folder i was working and there were the untitled.bak files, those files just vanished when i closed cubase, is there a way to recover them? i mean…is the only thing i can think of right now …just trying to save a LOT of work done in 1h…
