I’ve installed the Cubase 14 maintenance update (14.0.20), and everything seemed to be working fine…I could open my projects, including ones I had been working on for hours before the update. However, now I’m unable to save my project. I keep getting the error: “The project could not be saved because the project is corrupted - no new project could be created.”
What does this mean, and what can I do to fix it? The “Save New Version” option isn’t working either.
When doing a backup of a project, it seems to copy everything to a new folder, but then the same error appears: "The project could not be saved…"followed by a general error: “A serious problem has occurred in the following file: Cubase14.exe. Cubase 14.0.20 64-bit has become unstable. Try to save under a new name…”—but yeah, that’s impossible.
Cubase 14.0.20 64bit2025.3.14 19.55.06.774.dmp (2.0 MB)
how does it become corrupted suddenly? when it worked well last weeks. here is the file. i dont know how to read dmp files but hope its possible to open it.
thank you both. but what can i do now? and if it’s the plugin set, how and where can i view the dmp file? also: i’ve opened the same project, saved a few weeks ago, it gives the following information, from the warnings.txt: The plug-in “Shimmer” could not be found for Insert 2 Channel
The plug-in “AutoFilter” could not be found for Insert 1
The plug-in “Underwater” could not be found for Insert 1 Channel
thank you. i’ve downloaded 14.10 again with your link, first had to remove cubase 14 (latest version.20) now i can save my projects again. not sure what i should do now. not install version.20? wait? thanks… in any case the save error was caused by version .20
While normally each VST plugin is one file the Cubase stock plugins are all put together in one big file. This is the Cubase plugin set. Only the developers can see which individual stock plugin might have an issue.
Last time someone had issues with the plugin set it was Supervision. However, that was with version 14.0.10. Do you have Supervision loaded in the project anywhere?
You can easily check this by opening the VST Plugin Manager from the Studio menu and sort by the column “Instances”.
hi thanks, no i don’t have supervision loaded in the project anywhere.
just reinstalled 0.20 - still doesn’t work (when trying to save projects) - so wondering if i might ever be able to use it.
Is this reproducible with any project? Or with the given one project only? Or with any project originally created in an older Cubase version, but not with a project created in Cubase 14.0.20?
i didnt create any project in cubase 0.20 - i’ve installed the update just a few days ago and was willing to continue with the projects created before the update. so far all the projects created before the update, i’m unable to save them
Can I ask you for the given project (sotred in C14.0.10), please?
Could you share a link via Dropbox (or similar service) and send me the link via Private Message here on the forum. You can send just the *.cpr file (I don’t need the audio files *.wav).
This might not be the issue, but I seemed to corrupt the session when I tried using my key command for “Toggle Time Base”. Nothing happened, which is weird as I use that command every day. Then I went into key commands to see if maybe it got erased somehow, but the command itself was missing from the list.
The second I hit my quick key I got problems. Ive also tried opening a blacnk session and adding tracks from project, to build it from scratch, but I get corrupt or cannot save within 5 minutes
I had the same problem: couldnt save, file corrupted.
When I deleted the new cubase drum track form the project I could save the file again.
If you used it too try experimenting with that, maybe you have the same issue.
Hope for a bugfix soon… take care.
couldnt find any DMP files. Where would they be stored ?
Crashed one or two times when I first rendered the drum machine track and then tried to delete the track.
Have the old corrupted project as backup and could try to provoke a crash.
