I’ve been running a trial version of Cubase 14 Elements for a few weeks now with a Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo X - so far, so good.
Today without warning or any error messages Cubase can no longer “see” the Apollo under the audio connections output.
As the trial is almost over I purchased and downloaded Cubase 14 Pro and it’s still the same - the Apollo is not available as an audio connection for either input or output.
I’ve tried adding a bus but the Apollo isn’t there.
Advice and suggestions appreciated!
Thanks.
Before it will appear in audio connections you have to select it as ASIO device in Studio Setup. Check there first.
Hello Grim
Yes, thanks, I did look there but it wasn’t available there either. Strange that it seemed to just vanish for no apparent reason.
On reflection having to do a hardware reset does seem a bit harsh. Advice and opinions apprecaited.
Had you tried rebooting the computer or just repowering the interface before you did the full reset?
Could just be thew audio drive crashing…have seen similar issues with usb ports going to sleep on windows, have you done typical power management tweaks for USB if you’re on PC.
Hello Grim, thanks for your reply.
Yes, tried both. My background is I.T. support so started with shutdown, reboot, power off and on both the MacMini and the Apollo.
It seems strange that all of the audio apps (Quicktime, Music, the MacOS audio devices setup) could all “see” the Apollo but not Cubase. I assume from this that the root cause lies with Cubase.
I’m now fully back up and running after the Apollo reset - so it will be interesting to see if it happens again.
Hi, I have the same issue with my Apollo 8 and Cubase 14. Tried all the stuff in the post, no success. Then start Cubase 13 an everything is fine. Do you have any hints. The second crazy bug in C14 is the Midi Remote, always lost connection after restart. What´s wrong with Steinberg?
Regards, Mandy
Hello Mandy
Actually the issue is my own doing. As Grim pointed out I have to select the Apollo as ASIO device in Studio Setup.
I was starting up Cubase before powering on the Apollo which is why Cubase couldn’t see it until it was selected as the ASIO device. I’ve just upgraded from and ancient system which had two UAD-1e PCI cards so when the system booted up the cards were powered up at the same time. Starting Cubase after boot up on the old system meant the cards were imediately available.
I haven’t really delved into midi in Cubase 14 yet so don’t know. A Midi reset perhaps?
regards
Simon
Thanks for the fast reply. Maybe I´ve solved the problem with apollo 8 by deleting the user settings folder. I don´t know what´s going wrong with the settings. Apollo ins and outs are back but its a tedious work to bring back all the settings. The Midi Remote problem still exists.
Regards Mandy
I don’t know the Apollo 8 - are you on a mac or those other computers…, I wonder what else deleting the user settings folder might have done.
