If you have the enthusiasm, is there a chance that this is a GUI problem, and that the Preference setting(s) might still exist in some XML file that could be edited by hand?
Of course that would be extra work, but occasionally I’ve done such reverse engineering to figure out workarounds for things that bugged me enough.
I’ve been using it since around 7 and have not been too unhappy with the updates from 7 to 12.
However, I feel that since the update of 13 or so, there have been more and more bugs added to the fundamental system parts.
(Like the bug that when you assign a shortcut to the panel setting screen after 2 channels of the multitimbral sound source, it connects to 1 channel… And there is no sign of a fix for this. ・・・・)
And this bug in 14.02. ・・・・・・
I admit that it has improved in terms of functionality.
I also hope that you will consider that adding new bugs is causing more difficulty than the functionality.
I know you are not intentionally adding bugs.
I also know that it is impossible to remove all the bugs.
I just want to say, shouldn’t you be a little more careful?
At the very least, you can’t just suddenly say, “We’ve got the update!” Please release the update on the premise that it is a beta test
(this is a beta test and bugs may be added), rather than just suddenly saying “Update is ready!”
Glad to see it’s been put into the bug tracker (and hopefully being worked on). My years of muscle-memory having this key reassigned to Ctrl is definitely dragging on my aged bones on long studio days.
It is not publicly available but Martin is a moderator on this forum and has a rather close connection to Steinberg. There is no reason not to believe him when he says that something was reported to Steinberg.
Steinberg removed the official bug tracker long ago (with the associated Steinberg-recommended workarounds, they were so useful!), AFAIK.
I think that is a very unhelpful move from the user point of view, I hope Steinberg will return that (Official Bug List with Workarounds) to the forum soon.
